The bottom line? 5 minutes of verification beats 5 days of correction. A checklist is the cheapest insurance you can buy in medical device procurement. For our department, that meant creating a three-point checklist before every major purchase: (1) Check TCO, (2) Check service contract costs, and (3) Check clinical compatibility. Use it, and you'll save your department's budget from a ton of unnecessary pain.
